Dial Before You Dig is an essential step in any earthwork or excavation project.

AMJ Earthworks is committed to providing safe earthworks and excavation and is a proud promoter of the Dial Before You Dig service.  We strongly recommended that when considering any excavations on your property that you register and consult Dial Before You Dig to ensure you are aware of any underground services and if required, the processes around consulting with the various providers.

Soil estimatesExcavation is one of the highest risk activities when building or developing a site.  If poorly estimated (in terms of time, volume and materials – rock etc.) it can cause large time delays and budget over-run.  If you are planning on building, we strongly suggest you take some time to read through the links and documents below.  Even if you use the services of a competent contractor (we highly recommend AMJ Earthworks), it still helps to understand the basic concepts and potential pitfalls.

Estimating Earthworks Overview (College of Engineering Wisconsin USA – PPT) – Provides a great overview of what to consider when estimating earthworks, some methodologies and reference tables (Bulking factors etc.).
